Most of you know that, at the General Assembly of an EJC, we elect the EJC two years in the future. This is important, as an event of this type needs at least 18-24 months of planning time. Especially aspects like location booking, permits, and affordable arrangements for things like showers, toilets, and other festival logistics need a lot of lead time.
To get elected, interested teams reach out to us at info@eja.net to express their interest and provide some initial information. We then work with them to ensure that their ideas are realistic and appropriate for an EJC. The two most important things are a committed and capable team and a viable location, ideally with support from the local city.
Last year, for example, the Slovenian team went through this process with us. The result of their work was an inspiring presentation at the General Assembly in Ovar, which got them elected as the EJC 2026.
This year, however, no prospective core team has come forward to express their interest. With the EJC 2025 in Arnhem getting closer, this means that we might not be able to elect an EJC 2027, which in turn puts the whole event at risk.
So, your EJC needs you!
There are three things you can do:
- If you are interested in running an EJC or know someone who is, speak to them, people in your local juggling communities and your local government. Can you get a team and a location together?
- If you do have a team and a location, please get in touch with us at info@eja.net! Also, if you only have a committed team but no location, also get in touch. We might have a location, and while remote organising is challenging in different ways, it has been done before.
And if you come to the Community Big Top, you’ll also get another chance to meet the EJC 2025 team! We hope to see you there!
