This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the countless women who have shaped, sustained, and transformed the European juggling community — not only on stage, but across every part of what makes our community thrive.
From performers, teachers, organisers, and technicians…
to volunteers, board members, safeguarding teams, workshop leaders, event coordinators, artists, researchers, and community-builders — women have played, and continue to play, a vital role in the life of the European Juggling Association and in the development of juggling across Europe and beyond.
The European Juggling Convention has always been more than a festival. It is a temporary city built by its people — and every year, women are at the heart of making that city possible.
Women lead organising teams, coordinate volunteers, design and facilitate workshops, care for safer spaces, rig aerial halls, manage production, document our history, run traders’ areas, and create the artistic and social environments that define what an EJC truly is.
Their work — often visible, sometimes invisible — is essential to ensuring that our conventions remain open, welcoming, creative, and safe spaces for everyone.
Across decades of EJCs, women have helped to challenge norms, break barriers, mentor new generations of jugglers, and advocate for more inclusive practices within our events and our governance. Their presence and leadership have been fundamental in shaping the EJA into the diverse and evolving network that it is today.
As we continue working towards safer, more accessible, and more representative spaces within juggling, we recognise the importance of supporting and uplifting the voices, experiences, and leadership of women within our community — at every level.
To all the women who have been part of this journey — past, present, and future —
thank you for building this community with us.
We see you.
We honour you.
We celebrate you.
Happy International Women’s Day from the European Juggling Association.
